Modernization that occurred in Indonesia made changes to the lifestyle in the community, especially in urban communities. Like the lifestyle of the people of Palembang city in enjoying fast food. Fast food restaurants that have the main goal of meeting the needs of the human stomach are also a reason to fulfill the lifestyle of some people in the city of Palembang. This is a challenge for fast food restaurants to increase the comfort and attractiveness of each place, not least for McDonald's Ryacudu Palembang City. This study aims to describe the lifestyle of urban communities in Palembang in enjoying fast food at McDonald's Ryacudu Palembang City. This study uses the theory of The Leisure Class from Thorstein Veblen. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by selecting informants purposively. The informants in this study amounted to 6 (six) people who are people who often enjoy fast food at McDonald's Ryacudu Palembang City. The results of this study indicate that the reason for some people who enjoy fast food at McDonald's Ryacudu restaurants in Palembang City is not just to fill their hungry stomachs, but this place is used as an excuse to spend time relaxing with activities that can also be said to be a waste to create sense of prestige.
