Smoking is one of the biggest causes of death in the world and about 70% of people die from smoking. About 30% of smokers in the world are teenagers. While in Indonesia the habit of smoking has started at the age of 10-18 years. Factors that can cause adolescents to become smokers are lack of knowledge about the dangers of smoking. One way that is needed to increase knowledge in adolescents is to use the HISTAR application as a media. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of HISTAR education on adolescent knowledge about the dangers of smoking. This study uses a pre-experimental research design without groups with a one-group pre-test post-test design using Probability Sampling with Cluster Sampling Techniques. The number of samples in this study amounted to 131 adolescents. Adolescent knowledge about the dangers of smoking was measured using a questionnaire. Statistical analysis of this study used the Marginal Homogeneity test. Based on the results of the analysis, the p value is 0.000 so it can be concluded that there is an effect of HISTAR education on adolescent knowledge about the dangers of smoking. Information obtained about the dangers of smoking is expected to increase adolescent knowledge and prevent smoking behavior in adolescents.
