This study aims to find out about the policies and points of view of the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in his involvement in dealing with the Afghan conflict. The Afghan conflict which began with the invasion of the Soviet Union against the Afghan Mujahideen, the United States' invasion against the Taliban until 2021 which is still marked by a war between the Afghan government and the Taliban. In 2018, the Government of Afghanistan made a state visit to Indonesia which discussed Indonesia-Afghanistan cooperation in several fields, such as social, political and economic fields. This research is examined using the concept of Rational Choice theory or Rational Choice with a qualitative descriptive research type. This study uses descriptive data. In this study, data were collected using the literature review method such as journals, websites, documents, previous research and other relevant and relevant data. The results of this study will show how the attitude of the Indonesian government in dealing with the Taliban regime in Afghanistan by referring to Problems Recognition and Definition, Goals Selection, Identification Options and Alternatives, Choice so as to produce answers from the research.
