This study examines "The Phenomenon of Toxic Parents in the Family in Ilir Barat II District, Palembang City". The purpose of this study was to understand the background of the occurrence of toxic parents in the family and to find out the upbringing of toxic parents in the family. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The theory used in this study from BF Skinner is Behavioral Theory. The results of this study explain that there are several backgrounds for the occurrence of toxic parents in the family including toxic parenting from generation to generation, venting parental frustration, lack of communication between parents and children, children following parental orders and the application of child discipline. The parenting of toxic parents in the family often curses children when they make mistakes, compares children with other people, and says rude things to children. Parenting toxic parents in the family causes children to become anxious when they see the same incident, children become more easily emotional and easily offended by the surrounding environment.
