PENGARUH PROPORSI BAGIAN TANAMAN TERHADAP SCFA, PRODUKSI GAS DAN KONSENTRASI METANA SILASE RUMPUT GAJAH (Pennisetum purpureum) SECARA IN VITRO
Methane gas emission especially from ruminants us one of green house gas that can save bad impact for environment. The aims of this research was to study the effect of plant part propotion of napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum ) silage to SCFA, methane concentration and gas production in vitro. This research was held from February to March 2017 in Animal Feed and Nutrition Laboratory, Animal Science Department Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University, Animal Research Institute (BALITNAK) Ciawi Bogor, Agriculture Enviromental Research Institute Pati Jawa Tengah. Completely randomized designed of 4 treatments and 4 replications were applied on this research. The treatment were the plant proportion of napier grass silage : P0 (Napier Grass leaf 50 % + Napier Grass Stem 50 %), P1 (Napier Grass leaf 100 % + EM4), P2 (Napier Grass Stem 100 % + EM4), P3( Napier Grass leaf 50 % + Napier Grass Stem 50 % + EM4). Gas production (mL), Short chain fatty acid (mM), methane concentration (ppm) in vitro were observed parameter. The result showed that SCFA and methane concentration were significanty (P0,05). It was concluded that various plant proportion of napier grass silage has different SCFA and methane concentration.
