HUBUNGAN PAPARAN KARBON MONOKSIDA TERHADAP TEKANAN DARAH PADA PEDAGANG SATE DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Sate traders are risk profession that exposed to pollutants from the smoke of burning charcoal, one of which is carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide reacts very quickly with hemoglobin which caused disturbances in blood flow, and triggers an increase in blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of carbon monoxide exposure to blood pressure in sate traders in Palembang city. This study uses an observational analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study amounted to 50 sate traders was determined by proportional sampling technique. Data were analyzed univariate, bivariate with Chi-Square test, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression test of the risk factor model. The results of the Chi-Square test in the bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between exposure to carbon monoxide (p-value = 0.006) and coffee consumption habits (p-value = 0.012) with blood pressure in sate traders in the city of Palembang, and the results of multivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between exposure to carbon monoxide and blood pressure in sate traders (p-value = 0.038) after controlling for the variables of sleep quality, coffee consumption habits, and smoking habits (PR = 0.186, 95% CI = 0.038-0.914). It can be concluded that sate traders which exposed to carbon monoxide continuously with concentrations exceeding the threshold value can increase the risk of developing blood pressure disorders. Advice that can be given is wearing a mask while fanning the sate and adopting a healthy lifestyle such as reducing coffee consumption, regular exercise/physical activity, discussing complaints with trusted people to reduce stress, get enough sleep, and regularly checking health at the puskesmas.
