PENGARUH CERITA PENDEK “THE SILENT KILLER” TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN REMAJA TENTANG HIPERTENSI.
The incidence of hypertension in adolescents continues to escalate year after year. This increase would not be good if it had continued to happen and had not been controlled from an early age. Hypertension in adolescents will continue as their age, thus causing health problems in various organs and increasing the risk of morbidity and mortality. One of the strategies for solving this problem is by doing promotive actions through the health promotion. The media of health promotion that can be used on adolescent is a short story with the title the silent killer. The research aimed to find out the effect of health promotion used the media's short stories on adolescent knowledge of hypertension. This type of research is pre-experimental quantitative with a design for one group pre-post design test. The sample of this study were 67 respondents were taken as the samples by using a simple random sampling technique that meets the criteria of inclusions. Data were analyzed of the study used marginal homogeneity with significance level of α = 0.05. The result of p value = 0,000 which means that there is a significant effect of health promotion using a short story media on adolescent knowledge of hypertension. The increase in respondents’ knowledge about hypertension can occur due to the addition of information received throught short stories that ontain genres, plots, characters, and a situational that is short enough to be analyzed and understood in one lesson period. The result showed that health promotion using the silent killer short story significantly could increase khowledge about hypertension in adolescents. The use of short stories is expected to be of the approach strategies dan interactive media used in health promotion as an early promotive effort about hypertension to adolescents.
