This experiment aimed to investigate the characteristics profile of VFA (volatile fatty acids) and microbial populations in prebiotic of palm pressed fiber . The research was conducted at nutrition and animal feeding laboratory, agriculture faculty, Sriwijaya University in March to April 2012. This research used Completely Randomized Design with three treatments and five replicates for total VFA analysis and 2 test for analysis of microbial populations. Rice straw of substrate 1 g (P0), rice straw of substrate 1 g prebiotic fiber + 5% prebiotic of palm pressed fiber (Pl) and rice straw of substrate 1 g + 10% prebiotic palm pressed fiber. The parameters was Observed to include total VFA production, microbial populations and VFA proflles Partial.
