Radio is one type of mass media that is still used today. As with other mass media, such as television and newspapers, the role of radio is very important in the structure of the State. But in fact in the field most people rarely listen to the radio, especially among young people, this is what worries about the future of radio. Seeing these problems, this study aims to determine the communication strategy of Trax 95.1 FM radio in maintaining its existence as a youth radio in the city of Palembang. This study uses the theory of communication strategy according to Susan Tyler Eastman (1981) and uses qualitative research methods with data obtained from six informants consisting of three employees of Trax 95.1 FM radio and three listeners of Trax FM radio. Methods of data collection using semi-structured interviews, in addition to making the data more comprehensive, observations and documentation studies were also carried out. The results of this study indicate that based on Susan Tyler Eastman's theory, Trax 95.1 FM radio has implemented several communication strategies in order to maintain its existence as a youth radio in the city of Palembang.
