Background: Indonesia currently has the highest caries cases, especially in early childhood. Based on the results of the RISKESDAS 2018, it is stated that in the 3-4 years old group the caries prevalence was 81.5% and the 5 years old was 93%. One of the factors causing the high incidence of caries in children is formula feeding. Early Childhood Caries (ECC) most often occurs as a result of a child sleeping with a bottle filled with sugary drinks or milk without being followed by proper cleaning. Aims: To determine whether formula milk has an effect on early childhood caries in the teeth of children 4-5 years old at TKIT Harapan Bunda Palembang. Methods: Analytical observational research with a cross sectional study. The research subjects were children 4-5 years old at TKIT Harapan Bunda Palembang using a purposive sampling technique, as many as 30 people. Data were obtained directly from the results of dental examinations and online questionnaires (google form). Results: There is no relationship between the duration of drinking formula milk and the frequency of consumption of formula milk on the incidence of early childhood caries, but there is a relationship between the consumption of formula milk using assistive devices (bottle) at night, the frequency of brushing teeth in a day, the age of introduction of toothbrushes to children. , and visits to the dentist with the incidence of early childhood caries in children 4-5 years old at TKIT Harapan Bunda Palembang. Conclusion: There is an effect between formula feeding and the incidence of early childhood caries that based on the category of def-t index (including high category), and variables related to the consumption pattern of formula milk and oral hygiene in children 4-5 years old at TKIT Harapan Bunda Palembang.
