The study from home (SFH) policy during the current pandemic, all universities are implementing online lectures. Online lectures have been going on for more than 1 year. Students who usually conduct face-to-face lectures are now switching to online, so the intensity of using computers or mobile phones (Visual Display Unit) will greatly increase with online lectures. Without us realizing it, continuous use of the Visual Display Unit and poor monitor distance can cause eye fatigue complaints. Complaints of eye fatigue are tension in the eyes which is usually caused by the use of the sense of sight in the long term which is usually accompanied by uncomfortable viewing conditions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the duration of use and the distance of the Visual Display Unit (VDU) with complaints of eye fatigue in students of the 2018-2021 Public Health Sciences Study Program, Faculty of Public Health, Sriwijaya University during online lectures. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design and the total sample of this research is 124 students of the Public Health Sciences Study Program (S1) Class of 2018 - 2021. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out in stages, univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results of the study, from 124 samples, most of the students 91.1% complained of eye fatigue, and based on bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between duration of VDU use and complaints of eye fatigue (p-value = 0.000) and there was no relationship between VDU distance and complaints of eye fatigue (p-value = 0.506) for students of the Public Health Sciences Study Program (S1) Class of 2018 – 2021 users of Visual Display Unit (VDU) during online lectures. It is recommended for students to take a break using the 20-20-20 technique, after 20 minutes of doing work then take a 20 second break, then look away from the front of the screen as far as 20 feet (6 meters), use assistive devices such as a work desk and phone holder and check eye health regularly for early detection of eye health problems.
