Periodontal disease is a gum disease that is often complained by people and still have a relatively high prevalence. The main cause of periodontal disease is dental plaque microorganisms. Giving of Chemical compounds catechin in gambier is one of the prevention of dental plaque formation, because cathecin has antibacterial activity to S. mulans. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of mouthwash gambier extract on the formation of dental plaque. This study was an experimental study using Randomized Conlrolled Trial types Prelest and Posttest Control Group Design. The sampel of this study is the students of junior high school number 24, Palembang. 265 students were divided randomly into five groups. Group 1 gargling aqua, group 2 gargling extract gambir mouthwash concentration of /2%, group 3 gargling extract gambir mouthwash concentration of 1%, group 4 gargling extract gambir mouthwash concentration of 2%, group 5 gargling extract gambir mouthwash concentration of 3%.
