The problem of malnutrition in several developing countries, including Indonesia, is a common problem. Children with poor nutritional status will be susceptible to complications of other diseases because the immune reaction will decrease and if not handled quickly and appropriately it will cause death in children. This encourages researchers to build an expert system application in diagnosing complications of malnutrition in children which aims to help parents to diagnose complications of malnutrition in children based on symptom factors. The expert system method used is the Certainty Factor, this method is very suitable for diagnosing something that is not certain. Calculations with this method in one count can only manage 2 data so that the accuracy can be maintained. This study uses 26 symptoms of complications of malnutrition, 8 types of complications of malnutrition, and 50 test cases. From the 50 test cases, the accuracy of the Certainty Factor method was 96% and it can be concluded that the Certainty Factor method was quite accurate in diagnosing complications of malnutrition.
