South Sumatra is one of the provinces producing the best national chess athletes even international. Potential chess athletes are then trained directly by the Province in the South Sumatra Chess Academy (ACSS) and was sent to chess championship events such as Regional Championship (Kejurda), Provincial Championship (Kejurprov), National Championship (Kejurnas), National Sports Week (PON), and others. A qualified and accomplished chess athlete of course become an option so that it becomes very important to determine who deserves to be sent. In this case, the coach plays a vital role in monitoring the ability of an athlete so that he can select these athletes. The presence of SPK can assist the coach in making decisions on athlete selection through one of the methods, namely AHP which requires criteria in the calculation. The research was conducted using data collection methods through observation, interviews, and literature studies as well as producing chess athlete ranking data through the selection process carried out by the leadership.
