Odonlogenic cysl is one of the mosi common diseases affecling ihe jaws. Odontogenic cyst derivedfrom tissues ihat form the tooth. The cyst's lumen usually conlains fluids, keratin or or semi-solid material. Odontogenic cyst may originale from the epilhelial tooth budt the resi of the tooth crown enamel epilhelium, ephitel rest of malassez which is the remainder sheath of Herwig, remnants of dental lamina, and possibly derived from the basal layer of oral epithelium. They are classified inlo Developmental odontogenic cysls and odonlogenic inflammalory cysts. This study is a descriptive study with a survey method that is performed by observing the secondary data from the medical records of palients with odontogenic cysts in Oral and Dental Clinic AKGani’s Hospital Palembang in period January 2007 - September 2011 by age and sex. The study uses a sampling technique based on the consideralion (purposive sampling) with the crileria of palients with odonlogenic cysts. Results showed 18 228 patients who came to Oral and Dental Clinic AK GanVs Hospital Palembang from January 2007 lo September 2011 and there were 43 Odontogenic Cyst cases of Developmental Odontogenic Cysts (90.69%) with only 39 cases of Dentigerous Cysts and Inflammatory Odontogenic Cysts (9.31%) with only 4 cases of Radicular Cysls. Palients with Dentigerous Cysl cases the mosi al the age range 21-30 with a number of 15 patients (38.5%) and Radicular Cyst the most at the age range 41-50 as much as 2 patients (50%). Patients with Dentigerous Cyst cases by gender showed more male palients than female palients, whereas Radicular Cysls by sex showed the same ratio between male and female.
