The port is the gateway to the Indonesian economy, because this is where the traffic of export and import goods and goods between domestic islands takes place. This study aims to see how much influence the existence of a port has on increasing the economy in an area. This research was conducted in Palembang. The data used in this study are secondary and primary data with the research period 2010-2019. The analytical technique used in this research is OLS (Ordinary Least Square). The results of this study indicate that (a) loading and unloading of goods has a positive and significant impact on the economy of the city of Palembang; (b) loading of goods has a significant positive effect on the economy of the city of Palembang; (c) ship passengers have a positive but not significant influence on the economic development of the city of Palembang. This relationship is seen when the loading and unloading of goods and the number of ship passengers increase, the economy will also increase. This relationship makes these three variables a supporting factor in improving the economy of a region.
