This research is a literary research in the form of oral literature that develops in society. in addition, this research is also a form of documenting folk poetry in the form of mantras that develop in society. This research design aims to desescribe a function of the spell that developed in the village of Sungai Tenang, Gandus, Palembang. Describe the use of mantras in the village community Sungai Tenang, Gandus in Palembang. Describe the implications of oral literature in the form of mantras in Indonesian laguage lessons at school. The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The technique of collecting data in this research is by interviewing using the method of viewing-documentation in the form of audio or audio visual recording and shooting. the source of the data taken is in the form of primary data sources who are natives of Sungai Tenang village and secondary data sources obtainted from journals, books, and other similar research sources. Based on the results of interviews condcted with resource persons, the mantras that developed in the Sungai Tenang area have so many numbers and with various functions, uses, and variuos uses. But the mantras in this society is almost extinct, because many more are preserving or using it. Therefore , apart from providing information about the functions and uses in the reintriduction of folk poetry in the form of regional mantras.
