PERKERETAAPIAN DI KERESIDENAN PALEMBANG : JALUR KERTAPATI-LUBUK LINGGAU TAHUN 1914-1933
This thesis is entitled "Railways in the Residency of Palembang: Kertapati-Lubuk Linggau Line 1914-1933". By raising the issue of the history of railways in the Residency of Palembang and the impact of railway development on the people of Palembang in the socio-economic field. The purpose of this study was to find out about the history of the railway in the Palembang Residency on the Kertapati-Lubuklinggau line and the impact of the construction of the railway. The method used in this research is the historical method, through four activities namely heuristics, criticism and interpretation and ends with writing a report called Historiography. The research data was obtained through library research and literature studies. The results of the study indicate that the construction of railways in South Sumatra was carried out in stages during the Dutch East Indies period. The construction began with the construction of the Palembang - Prabumulih route in 1914. Then Prabmulih - Muara enim in 1919 and Muara enim - Lahat in 1926 and ended in Lubuk Linggau in 1933. The construction of the railway to the end of the Palembang Residency was aimed at making it easier to transport plantation products. from Lahat, Pagaralam to Palembang and then exported from Kertapati to Batavia (Jakarta). The success of this export made Palembang a new area that was busy being visited by outsiders of Palembang, thus making a social and economic impact on the people of the Residency of Palembang at that time.
