The background of this research problem is the development of children's speech abilities that have not developed according to their age stage which can be seen from the inaccuracy of articulation or the words used by children which cause listeners to have difficulty understanding their words. This study aims to determine the factors behind speech delays in children. The research subjects consisted of 2 people, namely MH and MD, children aged (3-4) years who were MH and MD who had speech delays in Bukit Lama Village, Palembang. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The resource persons in this study were the parents of the research subjects. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data collection, reduction, display, verification. The results of this study indicate several factors behind speech delays in children, namely lack of vocabulary, often watching television, the influence of gadgets, having a short tongue background, lack of interaction and communication stimulation, playing habits alone, family history. In this study, they often use body language so that the children's lack of motivation to speak.
