PENGARUH LAMA PERENDAMAN DALAM INFUSA DAUN SALAM TERHADAP STABILITAS DIMENSI CETAKAN POLYVINYL SILOXANE
Polyvinyl siloxane is one of material commonly used t o produce dental impressions. Impressions can be contaminated by microorganisms from saliva and blood, therefore impressions must be cleaned and disinfected immediately. One of traditional materials that can be used as disinfectant is bay leaf (Eugenia polyantha). Effect of disinfection procedure on dimensional stability of impression materials is important factor must be considered. The aim of this study w as to identify the effect of time of immersion in bay leaf infus ion on the dimensional stability polyvinyl siloxane impression. Thirty five polyvinyl siloxane impressions with 30 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness (ADA No. 19) were divided into 5 groups: 1 group without immersion(control) and 4 groups were immersed for 3, 5, 10, and 15 minutes in bay leaf infusion. Dimensional stability was measured using digital caliper and calculated with formula of dimensional change (ISO 4823). The data was analyzed using One Way ANOVA. The results of this study showed mean value of dimensional change in control group was 0,01 ±0,0l%o, group with immersion for 3, 5, 10, and 15 minutes were 0,01±0,01%, 0,01±0,01%, 0,02±0,01%, and 0,02±0,01% respectively. One way ANOVA showed there was no significant value (p>0,05) in dimensional change among five groups. It can be concluded that there was no effect of the duration of immersion in bay leaf infusion on the dimensional stability polyvinyl siloxane impression.
