PERBEDAAN GAYA TEKAN PADA GIGI TIRUAN SEBAGIAN LEPASAN AKRILIK DAN NILON TERMOPLASTIK KELAS II KENNEDY
Leverage of denture base is one of the common problems that often happen in the use of class II Kennedy removcible partial denture. This is due to the presence of the pressure force on the denture that causes the loss of its retention against the displacement force that can alter the relationship between the oral tissue and the surface of the denture itself The acrylic removable partial denture can be modified by using wire clasp as retention. The thermoplastic nylon removable partial denture with base extension firmly around a gingival tissue abutment can get the retention from such flexible material. This research was aims to know the difference of the press force that could cause the base lever between the class II Kennedy acrylic and the thermoplastic removable partial denture. In this research, 3 samples of class II Kennedy acrylic with 2 and 3 fingers wire clasps were used and thermoplastic nylon removable partial denture. They were tested by using Surveyor Ney with metal scale weights. Data were tabulated and concluded descriptively. The result showed the minimum weight values that caused the base leverage. The acrylic removable partial denture with 3 fingers wire clasps was not levered when given the 2,5 kg weight; while the 2 clasped one was levered when given the same weight; the thermoplastic nylon denture with 2 fingers clasps was levered to when given the 1,5 kg weight. In conclusion, there was the difference of the pressure force that could cause base leverage between the class 11 Kennedy acrylic and the thermoplastic removable partial denture.
