Postmenopausal can lead to decrease levels of estrogen that causes dry mouth. It will reduce salivary flow resulting in the ineffectiveness of a cleaning mechanism in the oral cavity and increase the accumulation of dental calculus. The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship of dry mouth on the postmenopausal woman with the accumulation of calculus in Sako region. The methodology was descriptive-analytic with cross-sectional study. It conducted in Griya Harapan Complex, Sako Palembang. The sample of this research were 60 respondents, divided into two groups. Group A that consist of the women who still on their menstruation period and Group B that consist of postmenopausal women. Data were taken by using the calculus index score and saliva volume and analyzed by Chi-Square test. The result showed there have a significance relationship between dry mouth on the postmenopausal woman with the accumulation of calculus (p-value=0.000). It was recommended to promote a health education to increase public knowledge about oral manifestations and the importance of maintaining oral hygiene during postmenopausal. In addition, it needed to measure estrogen hormone levels in order to know whether woman are at risk of dry mouth.
