Critical thinking is one of the skills that must be possessed by 21st century students. This study aims to determine the effect of using the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) model on students' critical thinking skills on the subtheme of the importance of healthy food for the body in class V SDN 59 Palembang. This research is a research using quasi-experimental method, with research design Noneequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were all fifth grade students of SD Negeri 59 Palembang. The sample in this study was 30 students who were taken using a systematic sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a multiple choice test. The data analysis technique used is the Paired Sample t-test which has previously been tested for normality and homogeneity tests first. The results obtained from the calculation of the Paired Sample t-test with a significant level of = 0.05, The results obtained from the calculation of the Paired Sample t-test with a significant level = 0.05, tcount = 4.80 > ttable = 2.14., which means tcount > ttable. Based on the results of the Paired Sample ttest, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is a significant effect of using the RADEC model on students' critical thinking skills with the sub-theme of the importance of healthy food for the body in class V SDN 59 Palembang.
