The purpose of writing in this study is to describe the efforts of the regional government of Bangka Belitung Province in preventing illegal mining in protected forest areas in West Bangka Regency. This research was conducted by using qualitative research methods using the type of research that is descriptive research. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the efforts made by the regional government of Bangka Belitung Province in preventing illegal mining in protected forest areas in West Bangka Regency have preventive (prevention) and curative (enforcement) efforts. The prevention efforts carried out by the regional government have been very good, namely by taking legal efforts to make PERDA Regional Regulation No. 05 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Regional Regulation no. 7 of 2015 concerning Public Order, making an appeal in the form of laying banners/signs regarding the prohibition of illegal mining in protected forest areas, and conducting socialization to the people of West Bangka Regency. In addition to the local government, the community must also contribute to preventing illegal mining in protected forest areas in order to preserve the environment to be passed on to their children and grandchildren. Furthermore, the action taken by the government has been very good, namely by conducting raids and confiscation of mining goods in order to provide a deterrent effect for people who have clearly violated the existing regulations. Sanctions of fines and imprisonment have also been very effective so that people think again about carrying out illegal mining activities in the protected forest area again.
