PENGARUH SENYAWA CHROMIUM TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI BAJA ST 37 PADA PROSES QUENCHING
Quenching is a heat treatment process in which the metal is heated to the austenitic temperature by rapid cooling. This study aims to determine the effect of chromium compound cooling media on the corrosion rate of ST 37 steel in the quenching process. This study used an experimental method, there were four specimens tested by going through the same quenching step but the concentration of chromium compounds varied 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. The temperature used is 8000C with a holding time of 30 minutes. Then the specimens were immersed in a corrosive medium in the form of acetic acid for 120 hours. Furthermore, the corrosion rate was tested using the weight loss method. The results of calculations on specimens with 0% chromium content have a corrosion rate of 6.730865 mm/y, while 10% levels are 6.351341 mm/y, 20% levels are 6.287251 mm/y and 30% levels are 5.545889. From this research, it can be concluded that the chromium solution affects the corrosion rate, the greater the chromium content, the lower the corrosion rate and vice versa if the level is lower, the corrosion rate increases.
