PERBANDINGAN KEKUATAN TARIK PADA SAMBUNGAN MATERIAL BAJA KARBON SEDANG DENGAN VARIASI KAMPUH SERTA KUAT ARUS PADA PENGELASAN SMAW DAN GMAW
This study aims to determine the comparison of the tensile strength of the AISI 1045 medium carbon steel joint after SMAW and GMAW welding using variations of V and X seams and 100A and 120A currents. The research method used is experimental research, based on the treatment that has been given by researchers to 8 specimens, it can be compared the results of the tensile test strength between SMAW and GMAW welding where the results of the highest welding tensile test connection strength are found in SMAW welding with specimen code SMAW X 120A with yield stress is 393.3 N/mm2, maximum stress is 544.5 N/mm2, and fracture stress is 450.2 N/mm2, and strain is 2.8%. The average value of the maximum tensile strength of Shield Metal Arc Welding is the highest with the acquisition of an average tensile strength value of 499.6 (N/mm2), while the average value of the tensile strength of Gas Metal Arc Welding is lower with the acquisition of an average value. an average of 410 (N/mm2). The difference in tensile test results is because SMAW welding has good metal deposit quality when welding the root face, SMAW welding is easier to penetrate the root of the weld because it uses a larger electrode than GMAW welding so that when filling the joint gaps it can be filled properly.
