Soil physical properties are environmental elements that determine the availability of water, soil air, and indirectly affect the availability of plant nutrients. This characteristic will also affect the potential of the soil to produce optimally. Soil physical properties relate to the shape or condition of the soil, which includes the texture, structure, bulk density, permeability and soil color. The purpose of this research is to study the soil physical properties in the Experimental Garden of Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Gelumbang. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Gelumbang from January to May 2022. The method used in this research is a detailed level survey method which referred to a scale map 1 : 3.500 with 10 hectares of study research area. Determination of the sampling location is using grid method where one sample point was represented ± 1 hectare of the area, so there are 10 sample points.The results showed that the soil structure in layer 1 is granular with a very fine class and a developmental level dominated by a weak level, layer 2 is angular blocky with a very fine class and a dominated by medium level of development. The soil color of layer 1 is dominated by black (10 YR 2/1) and layer 2 is dominated by dark yellowish brown (10 YR 4/4). Soil moisture in layer 1 with values ranging from 24.70 %-82.65 %, and layer 2 ranging from 23.52 %-38.79 %. Bulk density of layer 1 is dominated by weight class, layer 2 is dominated by very weight class. The permeability of layer 1 is rather slow to medium, layer 2 is slow to rather slow. The soil texture of layer 1 and layer 2 is dominated by sandy loam. Keyword : Soil Physical Properties
