Clove oil (Syzgium aromaticum L.) is one of the ingredients that can be used for natural anesthesia in fish transportation because it is rich in eugenol content. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving clove oil as an anesthetic agent on the transportation of jelawat fish fry. This study consisted of 2 stages, namely the first stage in the form of testing the toxicity and anesthetic power of clove oil, while the second stage in the form of application of clove oil doses as an anesthetic in various durations of transportation of jelawat fish fry. The second phase of the study used a completely randomized factorial design (CRFD) with the use of clove oil doses (0 and 0.01 mL L-1) the results of the determination of EC-100 10 minutes with different transportation times (6, 12, 18 and 24 hours). The results of the first stage of the study were the best concentration used as EC-100 10 minutes was a concentration of 0.011 mL L-1 because the test animals could faint 100%. The results of the second stage of research, namely the use of clove oil during transportation of jelawat fish fry resulted in a lower level of oxygen consumption and along with the longer transportation time, the consumption level of jelawat fish seed decreased. The use of clove oil had no significant effect on the survival rate of jelawat fish fry at the end of transportation, but it resulted in a significantly higher value at the end of the recovery period. The results of water quality measurements before and after the transportation and recovery period showed that the water quality was still within the tolerance limits for jelawat fish fry.
