STUDI BEBERAPA METODE EKSTRAKSI BUAH TOMAT RANTI (Solanum lycopersicum L.) TERHADAP VIABILITAS BENIH
This research aims to determine the effective extraction method in order to break physical dormancy and accelerate the germination of cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) seeds. This research was conducted in July 2022 at the Seed Technology Laboratory of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 kinds of treatment. Each treatment was repeated 5 times so that there were 25 experimental units, each experimental unit contained 1 tray consisting of 50 seeds. The treatments in this study include: A (flowing water); B (2% HCl); C (2% H2SO4); D (2% KNO3); E (80°C hot water). The results showed that the extraction technique had a significant effect on the parameters of germination, maximum growth potential, growth speed, root fresh weight and root dry weight. The extraction method using 2% HCl solution was the best treatment on the parameters of germination, vigor index, root length, plumule fresh weight, root fresh weight, plumule dry weight and root dry weight. Meanwhile, the extraction treatment using 2% H2SO4 solution was the best treatment on the parameters of maximum growth potential, growth speed and plant height.
