EFEKTIVITAS EKSTRAK DAUN NIPAH (NYPA FRUTICANS WURMB) SEBAGAI IMUNOSTIMULAN PADA IKAN NILA (OREOCHROMIS NILOTICUS)
One of the problems in tilapia cultivation is the incidence of diseases caused by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The effort that can be made to prevent disease is to increase fish immunity. Nipa palm leaves have benefit as traditional medicine and has the potential as an immunostimulant because it contains antioxidants and active ingredients that are useful for inhibiting disease. This research aimed to determine the effect of nipa palm extract as an immunostimulant in tilapia. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments in the form of a dose of nipa leaves extract in feed such as P0 was not given nipa palm extract, P1 was 1 g kg-1, P2 was 1.5 g kg-1 and P3 was 2 g kg-1. The parameters observed include clinical symptoms, hematocrit level (He), prevalence, absolute weight and length growth, survival rate and water quality. The results obtained was a quantitative analysis and presented in pictures and tables. Results of hematocrit and survival rate before infection were analyzed for variance and differences between treatments were further tested by Least Significant Different (LSD). Post infection observation parameters were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the addition of nipa palm extract (Nypa fruticans Wurmb) before infection had significantly different in hematocrit level whereas survival rate was not significantly different. The results post infection showed that the value of hematocrit level, survival rate, absolute weight and length growth in the treatment with the addition of nipa leaves extract were higher than in the control. The best treatment in this research is the addition of nipa leaves extract as much as 2 g kg-1 (P3).
