DAYA SIMPAN BENIH PADI (Oryza sativa L.,) VARIETAS MEKONGGA YANG DISIMPAN DALAM BERBAGAI TIPE KEMASAN DAN DITEMPATKAN PADA SUHU SIMPAN BENIH
The aim of the study was to determine the storability of rice seed (Oryza sativa L.,) mekongga variety under different types of packaging and stored at seed storage temperature (room temperature 26-300C) and (freezer temperature - 50C) with storage in various types of packaging. Seeds were produced from irrigated rice fields in Sido Makmur Village, Belitang District, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, South Sumatra Province and the test was continuted at the Seed Technology Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from January to June 2021. The treatments were consisted of two factors, namely packaging and storage temperature. The packaging consisted of cans, sacks and plastic. Each treatment was stored for 6 months with an interval of testing every 2 months. Storage temperature was carried out at 2 different levels, namely room temperature (± 26-300C) and freezer temperature (-5 0C). The study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RALF). The test included seed viability and vigor. Each treatment used 50 seeds with four repeatations. Parameters observed included water content, germination, growth synchronously, germination speed, plumule length, and radicle length. The result indicate that different packaging types and temperatures caused seeds germination and vigor responded differently even statistically not different. Germination and vigor were higher when stored in Cans and Plastic packaging and at lower temperature. However, higher quality seeds used in the study resulted in comparable response to the treatment.
