The purposes of this research is to develop a valid and reliable steam distillation tool from junk utensils and was conducted at Sriwiijaya University Chemistry Educaion Study Program. This research uses a 4D development model (Define, Design, Developt, Dessiminate) and observation and questionnaires data collection techniques. Steam distillation experiment tools were then media aspect validated by three media expert by used Aiken validity formula and the score is 0,76 and included in high category. The reliability can be seen from experiment that carried out repeatedly five times using 1,8 kg of sample and 5 hours distillation time. The obtained essential oil results were 2,9 ml, 2,8 ml, 2,9 ml, 2,7 ml and 2,9 ml respectively coefficient of variation percentage of 4,44% with a consistent category. This shows that the steam distillation apparatus from used goods developed is valid and reliable.
