PENGARUH HOLDING TIME ANNEALING TERHADAP KETANGGUHAN BAJA AISI 1045
The use of holding time in annealing heat treatment can affects the toughness of a material, because holding the material at a predetermined holding time can produce homogeneous heating and the grains become finer. Steel material that has been annealed requires a charpy impact test to determine the toughness value of the steel material. This study aims to determine the effect of holding time variations in the annealing heat treatment on the toughness of AISI 1045 steel. The study used an experimental method that showed the effect of the results of different toughness values for each specimen, using 3 variations of holding time, namely 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and raw materials by quenching inside the furnace and cooling outside the furnace. The highest toughness value was obtained at a specimen holding time of 45 minutes by cooling outside the furnace, namely 251,661 Joules. Meanwhile, the lowest toughness value was obtained from the raw material (non annealing) specimen, which was 140,997 Joules.
