ABSTRACT This study aims to examine and describe the social phenomenon of school dropouts in Gunung Batu village, Pulau Beringin sub-district, with 5 research subjects consisting of dropout children, parents of dropout children, and elements of the village government. With this type of qualitative descriptive research. Methods of data collection using interviews, observation and documentation. The results obtained in this study are: 1) From the social aspect of society, the interaction of children in the community is very active, the actions taken are by participating in mutual cooperation activities, social services, and cleaning the mosque. The activities of school dropouts in community groups are working as farm laborers, gardening, and selling fried foods. 2) From the aspect of social behavior which includes the habits and associations of children in the community apart from working for money, the habitual behavior of children in the community playing with friends, hanging out on the side of the road, and playing volleyball during the day and night. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that school dropouts in Gunung Batu village are more concerned with working as farmers than continuing their education.
