This study aims to describe the faktors causing the low learning motivation of students in class XI social sciences at SMA Negeri 23 Palembang in the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample of this research is students of class XI IPS. this research is a quantitative descriptive study that uses two data collection techniques, namely questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis techniques are carried out by data reduction, data presentation,verification and conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the faktors causing the low motivation of students can be seen and several faktors. Among them (1) the aspirations or aspirations of students there is a percentage of 45% which is categorized as very low, (2) the ability of students, the percentage of 42% is categorized as very low, (3) the condition of students is 45% which is categorized as very low, (4) the Condition of the Learning Environment is 48% which is categorized as very low, (5) The dynamic elements in learning have a percentage of 47% which is categorized as low, (6) The efforts of educators in learning the percentage of 42% are categorized as very low. Based on this research, it is hoped that the research results can be combined with similar research, so that they can find efforts to overcome the causes of the low learning motivation of students in economic subjects.
