RESPON TERMOREGULASI AYAM BROILER PADA PENINGKATAN CEKAMAN SUHU PANAS HARIAN
Broiler chicken is one of the products of poultry that has an important role in efforts to increase the economy in Indonesia, especially in South Sumatra. The increase in daily heat stress from morning to noon causes a thermoregulatory response in broiler chickens, this needs to be known in an effort to increase livestock productivity. This study aims to determine the thermoregulatory response of broiler chickens on an increase in daily heat stress that occurs at 07:00, 10:00 and 13:00. This research was conducted in a farm at Jalan Sarjana, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir Regency from September to October 2021. This study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments at different measurement times, namely at 07:00, 10:00 and 13:00 with 27 replicates. The variables observed in this study were the thermoregulatory response of broiler chickens including chest temperature, comb temperature, rectal temperature, respiratory rate and the percentage of the number of panting chickens. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and BNJ test. The results showed that chest temperature, comb temperature, rectal temperature, respiratory rate, and panting percentage increased (P < 0.01). Chest, comb, and rectal temperature at 10:00 and 13:00 were not significantly different (P < 0.01) but higher than the measurement at 7:00 (P < 0.01). The highest mean of respiratory frequency and panting percentage were at 13:00, which were significantly different from the measurements at 10:00 and 7:00. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the increase of daily heat stress causes an increase in the thermoregulatory response of the broiler chickens.
