GAMBARAN SENSITIVITAS KONTRAS PADA PASIEN MIOPIA DI POLI MATA RUMAH SAKIT MOH. HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE NOVEMBER-DESEMBER 2013
Background: Many myopic patients complain about poor vision despite having normal visual acuity. Visual acuity measure the eye’s ability to see fine details, but not low contrast object whioh is reflected through contrast sensitivity testing. This study was conducted to measure contrast sensitivity in myopia. Method: This was an observational descriptive study with case series approach. Population and sample of this study were myopic patients who came to Moh. Hoesin Hospital Eye Clinic from November to December 2013. Data were collected from contrast sensitivity measurement of 83 eyes performed at 3 m, 2 m, 1 m, and 40 cm using Lea low contrast flip chart 10M optotypes with sloan letters. Result: Contrast sensitivity score among myopic patients at 3 m, 2 m, 1 m, and 40 cm was 34.05, 66.31, 76.87, and 79.09, respectively. Contrast sensitivity scores between men and women were relatively similar. Based on age, contrast sensitivity increased from age 12-25 until 20-23 year old. Contrast sensitivity was lower in almost normal visual acuity compared to normal visual acuity. As increasing degree of myopia, contrast sensitivity was reduced. Contrast sensitivity scores was lower in almost normal visual acuity. Contrast sensitivity decreased as myopia degree increased. Conclusion: Contrast sensitivity scores were lower in fiirther distance of measurements, almost normal visual acuity, and severe myopia.
