This study aims to describe the function of Guritan Besemah's oral literature Pagar Alam for the supporting community. The type of research used is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data of this research are in the form of words, sentences and paragraphs which contain the function of oral literature Guritan Besemah Pagar Alam for the supporting community. Source of data in This research comes from informants, this research also uses data from texts Guritan and this research data are also guided by the results of the study previously. Data collection techniques in qualitative research are: conduct observations, interviews, and review documentation. In this research, The qualitative data analysis technique used is inductive data analysis. The results of research on the function of Guritan Besemah Pagar Alam oral literature for the community There are 8 supporting functions of oral literature, namely: 1) As education, 2) As .entertainment, 3) As certifier of culture, 4) As aspirational media, 5) As a political introduction, 6) As an introduction to history and culture, 7) As a the function of the spirit of defending the country, 8) As a means of strengthening a sense of kinship. Based on the findings of the function of Guritan, there has been a transfer of function in Guritan from a show perspective. the function transfer that occurs makes Guritan experiencing developments in the life of the Besemah community.
