Introduction: Immiunization is one form of health interventions that are very effective in reducing infant and under-five mortality rate. But there’s still no data that can show the coverage number of basic immunization. Talking about the complete of basic immunization, surely there are some factors that affect it, including parent’s characteristic. Objective: To explore the complete of basic immunization in children under five, underlying reasons of incomplete basic immumzation, and the relationship between mother’s characteristics (knowledge, attitude, behavior, educational background, occupation, monthly per capita income, number of children) and the complete of basic immunization in children under five at 13 Ilir Clinic, Palembang. Method: Cross-sectional study which questionnaire guided and from KMS/ health card to mothers who brought under five children to clinic in on November-December, 2011. Minimum samples amount is 91. Result: From 87 samples, 86,2% children got basic immunization. The reason for these children incompleteness were due to illness concurrently with the immunization schedule 69,2% and mother’s fear of the immunization side effect 30,8%. The result showed that two of seven variables had significant relationship with the complete of basic immunization in children under five. The two variables were knowledge (p=0,005) and educational background (p=0,044). Conclusion: Complete of basic immunization in children under five at 13 Ilir Clinic, Palembang reached 86,5%. The reason for children that have incomplete basic immunization were mostly due to illness concurrently with the immunization schedule. Only knowledge and educational background that have relationship with complete of basic immunization in children under five at 13 Ilir Clinic, Palembang.
