Fat deposition in obese people is seen as a risky factor that would causes blood vessels vasoconstriction systemic into the brain, in any further, it will disrupt calories and oxygen stream to the brain. The purpose of this research was to determine the influences between obesity and IQ scores on students of SMP Negeri 3 Palembang in 2013. Methods: The research type was an observational analytic with a cross-sectional study. The population is all of the students of SMP Negeri 3 Palembang school year 2013 using 119 sampling which is obtained by random sampling. The obesity data was collected by direct measurement and questionnaires, while the IQ data had been available in Persada University of Sriwijaya 2013. Results: The number of obese children who have unoptimal 10 was 55.9%, higher than the non-obese children. The ratio between them is 3:2. The result of the bivariate analysis calculation from the coefficient 10.578 Chi square is greater than the df = 1 and a = 5% Chi square table at 3.432, but it also obtained p value = 0.001, which means there is a relationship between obesity and IQ scores in children. Conclusion: Obesity most commonly found in aged over 10years when they to consumingfast food which is one of the obesity causing factors.
