Behavioural issues are a considerable concem for they decrease quality of life in children. The purpose of this study is to determine the distribution of behavioural issues and characteristics of children with behavioural issues, and identify the causing risk factors in Paediatrics Department Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. Method: This study is an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional approach. Primary data were obtained in November—December using questionnaires and PSC-17 instruments. Sample of this study is children hospitalized at the Department of Paediatrics Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang in November-December 2013. Samples taken by using consecutive sampling. Results: As many as 101 children were samples that met inclusion criteria. Prevalence of behavioural issues is 16.8%, and they were all internal behavioural problems. Behavioural issues were not found other than internal issues, it is due to the small number of samples and social cognitive processes that start developing in school-aged children, which is the highest proportion in this study. Risk factors obtained in this study were male gender (p=0.004; CI95%: 2.019; OR: 8.782), children who have a history of previous hospital admission (p=0.011; CI95%: 1.669-50.321; OR: 9.164), and children not raised by their own parents (p=0.013; CI95%: 1.434-21.515; OR:5.555). Conclusion: Prevalence of behavioral issues in children hospitalized in Pediatrics Department in Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang is slightly higher than the prevalence of researches in healthy children. Behavioral issues are more common in children with male gender, children not raised by their own parents, and children who have a history of previous hospital admission.
