The horn beetle Oryctes rhinoceros L (Coleoptera: Scarabidae) attacks the growing points of palm oil plants, causing the plants to experience growth inhibition. One of the control efforts carried out is by utilizing the microorganism Bacillus thuringiensis. The use of waste as a nutrient for the propagation of B. thuringiensis bacteria can reduce pest control costs. Several types of waste used for the propagation of B. thuringiensis bacteria in this study were rice washing water waste, liquid waste from tofu making, bran water waste and old coconut water waste. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate propagation material for B. thuringiensis bacteria to suppress the larval population of O. rhinoceros. The experiment was designed in a completely randomized design (CRD) and consisted of 5 treatments and 5 replications. Parameters observed in this study were bacterial spore density, symptoms of insects infected with B. thuringiensis, mortality of test insects, larval weight, larval length, symptoms of infection with O. rhinoceros larvae, and morphology of healthy O. rhinoceros larvae. The results showed that the highest density of B. thuringiensis spores which were calculated when the spores were 24, 48 and 72 hours old were found in the rice washing wastewater treatment, namely 91.67 x106 spores/ml, 197.00 x106 spores/ml, 320.67 x106 spores/ml. The highest insect mortality occurred in the treatment of rice washing water waste. While the lowest mortality occurred in the control treatment (NB). The data on weight loss of the highest O. rhinoceros larvae was the treatment of rice washing water waste. Symptoms of infection caused by B. thuringiensis in the form of destruction of the digestive organs of the larvae, causing the larvae to experience lysis or rupture of cells in the internal organs of the larvae.
