Background: Because most of infertility cases are found in women, various methods have been developed. One of them is laparoscopy. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between risk factors of infertility and pathological findings in childbearing age women who underwent laparoscopy. Methods: We conducted an observational analysis by using cross-sectional study design. Data was collected from medical records of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. The population was all childbearing age women who underwent laparoscopy and samples were taken from 1st November 2010 until 31st October 2013. Data were analyzed by descriptive, bivariate and multivariate. Results: This study showed that the number of infertile women who underwent laparoscopy and met the inclusion criteria were 206 people from 480 cases of laparoscopy. The majority of infertile patients were 30-44 years old (68.9%), living in Palembang (54.0%), being married for 1-5 years (54.5%), suffering from primary infertility (79.9%), having regular menstrual cycles (90.7 %) and dysmenorrhea (76.3%), and also having no history of abnormal uterine bleeding (58.5 %). Based on the classification of pathological findings from laparoscopy, as many as 52.4% suffered from endometriosis with 4th degree in general (24,1%), 44.1% suffered from cyst, 15.5% suffered from uterine myoma, and 25.5% had impaired tubal function. Based on the number of pathological findings, most of the patients only had 1 finding (42,7%), namely endometriosis (39,8%). Based on the result of analysis, we found that there were an association between dysmenorrhea and endometriosis, age and uterine myoma, as well as AUB and tubal function. Conclusion: This study shows that there are a relationship between dysmenorrhea and endometriosis, age and uterine myoma, as well as AUB and tubal function.
