PREVALENSI DAN FAKTOR RISIKO DEPRESI PADA WARGA PANTI WERDHA DHARMA BHAKTI PALEMBANG PERIODE NOVEMBER-DESEMBER 2013
Introduction: Depression is one of the aspects of mental health problems that often occur in the elderly. Untreated depression leads to a negative mfluence on quality of life, and increased mortality. The purpose of this study is knowing the prevalence and risk factors of depression in residents of Dharma Bhakti Niusinffe Home Palembang. Method: The type of research is analitic observational study. Primary data taken with the aid of Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Results: Elderly man of 30, there are 23 elderly people (76.7%) were categorized as normal and 7 elderly (23.3%) were categorized as mild to severe depression. Six elderly people who are depressed are included in the category di niilcl depression and one person is included in the category of major depression. The incidence of depression is most prevalent in the elderly women, elderly people with an age range of 75-90 years, had marital status not married/not in pairs, seniors with low levels of education, the elderly who suffer from chronic diseases, and the elderly to stay in the background on their homes itself. From the results of the statistical test using the chi square test showed that there is a relationship between the sexes with depression. Value odds ratios for the relationship between the sexes with depression obtained = 13.714 meaning that women have J 3 Jimes the risk for depression than male. Conclusion: It is concluded that gender is a risk factor for depression.
