Introduction: Cervicai cancer is the leading cause of death in women with 70 % of cases are found at an advanced stage. Prevention and early detection remain essential to decreasing cancer mortality. Pap smear is a Standard inspection measures for the early detection of cervicai malignancies. This study was conducted to describe the results of pap smears in Polyclinic Oncology Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang period of 1 September 2011-31 September 2012. Method: The type of research was a descriptive analytic observational studies using a cross sectional. The population is all woman which had performed pap smears in Polyclinic Oncology Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang period of 1 September 2011-31 September 2012. The sample is women which had performed pap smears in Polyclinic Oncology Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang period of 1 September 2011-31 September 2012 who had complete medical record. The data of this study is secondary data obtained from medical records. Results: The results of this study are 62,7 % had a positive pap smear result and 37,3 % had a negative pap smear result. Pap smear is the most positive carsinoma cervix (74%) and the highest negative pap smear is cervicitis (61%). Based on the results of the Chi square test there is a relationship between vaginal bleeding (p=0,000) with OR 8 , pain (p=0,000) with OR of 0,098 and post-coital bleeding (p=0,018) with OR of 5,417 to a positive pap smear results .Unrelated complaint is there are no symptoms (p=0,193), flour albus (p =0,623), and menstrual disorders (p=0,470). Conclusion: If no view factor of maternal age and gravida, the symptoms of vaginal bleeding, pain and post-coital bleeding is a risk factor of the pap smear to be positive. Symptoms of vaginal bleeding are more risk 8 times, 0,098 times of pain and post-coital bleeding 5,417 times.
