Introduction: Asthma is a condition which causing the airways narrowed due to hyperactivity to certain stimuli that causing inflammation. The incidence of bronchial asthma in children in primary schools of several cities in Indonesia (Medan, Palembang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Malang and Denpasar) showed the incidence of bronchial asthma in primary schools children (at 6 to 12 years) ranged between 3.7% - 6.4%. Methods: This study was using a descriptive observational method. Children with asthma based ffom the results of childhood asthma questionnaires conducted by the parents in public primary school 254 and primary school of Patra Mandiri 2 in Plaju at Palembang city. The data obtained ffom the observations will be processed and presented descriptively in tabular form using SPSS 20 for Windows and narration. The study was conducted ffom September to December 2012. Results: Subjects who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were 22 childrens with bronchial asthma ffom both schools. The incidence of bronchial asthma in public primary school 254 and primary school of Patra Mandiri 2 in Plaju at Palembang city is 2.80%. Discussion: From the results of this study it can be concluded that the most influential risk factors on the incidence of bronchial asthma in children aged 6-12 years in public primary school 254 and primary school of Patra Mandiri 2 in Plaju at Palembang city were the male gender, history of atopy allergic rhinitis in the parents, and the history of atopy of bronchial asthma in the mother. Many factors that cause the outbreak of bronchial asthma are the inhaled allergens indoors, strenuous of physical activity, and the exposure effect of cold weather.
