HUBUNGAN USIA DAN JENIS KELAMIN DENGAN DERAJAT NEUROPATI PADA PASIEN POLINEUROPATI DIABETIK YANG DIRAWAT DI RSMH PALEMBANG PERIODE 1 JANUARI 2012 SAMPAI 31 DESEMBER 2012
Background: Polyneuropathy Diabetics is a chronic complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) that is marked by the damage to the nerve. Some of the factors that affect neuropathy is age and gender. To determine the degree of the nerve damage, we can use the ENMG examination. Objective: To determined the relations between age and gender with the degree of neuropathy in Polyneuropathy Diabetics patients Method: This is an observational analytics study with cross-sectional design. The Sample for this study is polyneuropathy diabetic patients that was recorded at RSMH Department’s ofNeurology from 1 January-31 December 2012. Variables that was studied was the relations between age and gender with the degree of neuropathy. The collected data will be presented in a tabular, along with its description and analysis. Result: A total of 113 ENMG examined polyneuropathy diabetic patients was determined as samples in this study with the most cases was around 55-59 years old (26%). The most affected gender is female (54%), the most affected neuropathy degree is axonal degeneration (62%). Using Chi-square test it can be concluded that there was a relations between age and neuropathy degree (p= 0.007) with low correlation (C= 0.272). No relations was found between gender and neuropathy degree (p= 0.11). ConcJusion: OJd age woman is the most suffered from polyneuropathy diabetics. Age can affect neuropathy degree at polyneuropathy patients. No relations found between neuropathy degree and gender.
