ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the awareness of the people of Muara Penimbung Ulu Village towards environmental cleanliness. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research technique used purposive sampling with 7 subjects as the subject. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of research conducted in Muara Penimbung Ulu Village through three indicators, namely community knowledge, community understanding, and community actions. The people of Muara Penimbung Ulu village have knowledge related to environmental hygiene, environmental pollution, and the impact of environmental pollution. Then on the indicator of understanding, the community has a lack of understanding due to the lack of public interpretation of the community's perspective on environmental cleanliness, and the behavior of people throwing garbage carelessly. Furthermore, on the indicators of action, there is no form of direct responsibility either from the government or the community for environmental pollution. In addition, there are no environmentally conscious drivers who can help maintain cleanliness in the village environment. Keywords: Public Awareness, Environmental Cleanliness
