GAMBARAN HISTOPATOLOGI PADA PENDERITA BENIGN PROSTATE HYPERPLASIA DAN KARSINOMA PROSTAT DI BAGIAN PATOLOGI ANATOMI RUMAH SAKIT Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate carcinoma are two types of proliferative lesions that are often found in the prostate gland. The incidence of BPH and prostate carcinoma are increasing with age. On histopathological examination of BPH varied comorbid lesions can be found. Histopathological examination to determine subtypes and Gleason score used as predictor of prostate carcinoma outcome. This study aimed to describe the histopathological features of BPH and prostate carcinoma patients in Anatomical Pathology Department of RSMH Palembang. Method: This study was a observational descriptive analytic study using cross sectional approach. From 1156 patient’s archives who examined their prostate gland tissue in Anatomical Pathology Department of RSMH Palembang during July 2010 to June 2013, there were 912 BPH samples and 183 prostate carcinoma samples that met inclusion criteria.
