STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVES OF LEARNING ENGLISH AT KAMPUNG INGGRIS TEMPIRAI PALI
This study aimed to find out the students' perspectives and the factors that motivate them in learning English at Kampung Inggris Tempirai PALI. A qualitative study in case study design was adopted to answer the research questions. The data were collected through questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire was distributed through Google Forms to all participants of this study and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics analysis to get the percentage of the students' perspectives and motivation in learning English. Then the online interview took place for some students who had filled out the questionnaire to get more reliable data for this study. The data from the interview were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's Flow Model Analysis technique which was data reduction, data display, and data conclusion. The results showed that most students (72%) strongly agreed that English was necessary to learn. This study also figured out that students had various motivations to learn English, such as wanting to do the assignment easily, communicate with tourists and foreigners fluently, study abroad, and get international jobs.
